Sewing projects

Curtains-- here are my new dining room curtains. The lighting in these pictures is not the greatest it's so hard to get a good picture of my dining room because of all the windows-- I won't complain though because oh do I love my windows!! I am trying to liven up my dinning room-- next project is making chair pads, then I would love to refinish the table--we'll see...
I decided that I wanted to make all of my girls clothes for summer and I just got a new sewing machine :0). I started with these little skirts found here: http://sewmuchado.blogspot.com/2010/02/refashion-tutorial-toddler-ruffle-skirt.html It was so fun and easy. The shirt was $1 at Wal-mart. I added the little flower-- I'm in love with these flowers as you will see below I put them on everything and also wear a really cute brown one myself. I found that tutorial here: http://www.tipjunkie.com/2009/05/fabric-flower-tutorials.html Sorry I don't know how to make them into links. So anyway I love blogs and all their cute ideas, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorites. This outfit is for Claire...
Who managed to "wear it in" right away with pancake mix...
and was not too happy about me forcing her to sit for a picture!!
I made this outfit for Kate-- again a 1$ shirt. The skirt was made from an old shirt of mine I added a cute little ruffle by cutting out a bunch of circles and pinning and sewing them in a line down the skirt--you might have to click on it to see the detail.

Headband-- I made this headband to match the shirt below. I love sewing cute little beads in the middle. I also put Velcro on the back of the flower and the head band, so I can switch it out for other flowers.
The other thing I've had fun making are applique shirts--Kate told me she wanted apples-- so here they are. Again a $1 Wal-mart shirt and scraps of cute Gathering place fabric.
Here's another shirt I made. For these shirts I just made up my own patterns, but I also found that there are lots of patterns online-- just type in free applique patterns. Also don't forget your wonder under, and make sure your sewing machine has an applique stitch-- it finishes it so nice.

first tooth and Valentines

Karson lost his first tooth this weekend--- gotta love those toothless grins!! He was so excited to put it under his pillow and see what the tooth fairy would bring him-- we thought we'd be generous since it was his first tooth and gave him $5. The next day we took him to Wal-mart-- he just couldn't wait to spend it :0)!! Anyway in all the excitement and taking the 5 dollar bill out of his pocket to admire it numerous times, it ended up lost in Wal-mart. Jason and Kars searched the store with no luck. Karson was devastated (to say the least)! I was surprised when we got to the check out and there was his money in the cart. Karson was so thrilled and picked out a really cool monster truck. Later I was talking to Jason and found out that he had planted another $5 in the cart-- he did such a good job I was even fooled-- Jason is such a good daddy-- I think Karson learned his lesson and everyone was happy in the end-- except that was one pricey little tooth :0)!!
We made Valentine treat bouquets for Jason's grandparents and parents and delivered them yesterday along with homemade valentines from the kids and family pictures (I'll post our new ones soon)-- They turned out pretty cute and were lots of fun to make!

Snow Boarding

Jason and I went snowboarding today for the first time in forever (and our first time together)--9 years for me and 12 for him. Jason told me that he wasn't very good, only had been a few times, but he was pretty dang good-- I was impressed!!! I did okay and it made me want to go more in the future. I am already feeling sore from the many tumbles I took though and my quads are feeling it-- I guess I'm not in the greatest shape ;0). Oh and I got a new camera-- not my dream camera but a nice little pocket Cannon, like my old one that I loved and lost.
"I'm king of the world!!" We were on top of the mountain-- so pretty, windy, and cooooold!!!

The view from the top was gorgeous!!

Kate is 4!!!

Little miss Kate is 4!!! She had a princess party with a few of her little friends-- they all dressed up in their favorite princess clothes and were so cute! We made candy necklaces and mini pizzas and other than that kept it very simple-- best way, in my opinion, with a bunch of little ones! I am only posting a few pictures because my camera mysteriously walked away and so I borrowed my friends for the party. We have more pics of the rest of the day on a disposable camera-- so, maybe I'll post more later...
Kate and her friends!
Her princess cake!! All of you who know me well, know that I have horrible luck baking cakes-- I have never had one turn out well. Either the cake is crumbly, sticks to the pan, or the frosting is yucky. Anyway, I was so excited with how this one turned out, so I had to post a picture!! Yeah for princess cakes!!
