My Vintage Dress

I decided that I wanted to learn to sew some things for myself.  I have sewn a lot for my house and my girls, but never for me--except when I was in high school and I had my amazing seamstress mother to help me.  My mom gave me this fabric a few years ago.   It was some my grandma had--it is truly vintage ;0).  I found a pattern from the 60's at a yard sale and after some tweaking this is how it turned out.  It also has a yellow exposed zipper on the back.  I had so much fun making this one--I've started my next.

My room

I have never posted pictures of my room in our new house.  Probably because I didn't really love it.  This summer Jason and I decided that it was time to upgrade to a king size bed so, Jason built me this beautiful bed. I found one online at Dwell studio that was very similar, but over $2000!  We painted the walls a light gray, bought a down comforter (I've decided everyone needs one!), bought some cute bedding at my favorite, West Elm, and added some white and gold accents. I love how it all came together!
Jason also built us a fireplace.  It was a very long project.  We started it last winter to warm up our room, but had some problems with the fireplace insert--it was used.  We finally got all the parts and it working this spring, so we weren't in a hurry to finish it.  When we decided to list our house, we also decided that it was time to get the fireplace done.  It's cute and simple.   I don't love the clock, but it works for now.

Christmas---a month late--oops!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year!! We spent Christmas Eve over at Chad and Bonnie's.  We love our tradition of acting out the Nativity!! My girls and I were all angels--not sure if that's fitting, but we sure looked cute!

Here's the Christmas tree after Santa came!  We couldn't put any gifts until Christmas eve--Lia was way to good at opening them--so, it was fun to see the tree overflowing with gifts!!
Kate got a new bed for her American girl doll--Santa made the bed and Mrs. Clause the bedding ;0)!
Cute Claire bear with her new doll and doll backpack!
He is a Jones--had to get him some REAL tools!!

It WAS beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Every year we go up into the mountains to cut down a Christmas Tree.  This year I forgot to pick up a permit so instead of heading to the mountains right by our house we drove up to Rock Creek along with a hundred other people.  We found a tree though.  It looked beautiful in the ground, but when we cut it down we realized just how Charlie Brownish it was...

We added some decorations and then it looked beautiful and elegant.

California Adventure!

Day 3 in California

We started out the day by driving into LA-soooooooo much traftic--to the American Girl doll store.  The girls and I had sooooooo much fun looking at all the dolls and dreaming of all the things they wanted.  I had fun going back and doing a little Christmas shopping--oh how I do love American Girl!
We spent the afternoon at the beach.  The kids had so much fun in the sand and water.  We came very unprepared thinking that the kids would be content on the sand and walking down the pier. We were wrong--they were all soaked.  I should say we were all soaked.  I bent down to take a picture of Lia just as a big wave came.  Karson and Kate loved it the most.   I think we could take a vacation just to the beach and they would be perfectly happy!
